The Need
In 2012, an electrical fire destroyed the beloved Lander Community Center – a treasured piece of Lander’s history and the heart of the community. Out of this tragedy comes opportunity to build a new facility big enough to host events in Lander that were previously not possible. The possibilities for new uses are boundless and open to the imagination.
The History of the Community Center
Our Community Center has been a core part of the fabric of Lander for over 90 years. It weaves together different segments of our city and fosters many of our lifelong friendships and memories. Festivals, weddings, reunions and funerals all have a place in our history. Stories of poker games, rat derbies, whiskey auctions, and tall tales from the big hunt are still alive for all of us. The stories from our past are the foundation for our future.

The New Lander Community Center
The center will be a tribute to the past and an invitation to the future. The 18,000 square-foot facility, with the capacity for 1,346 people, will allow Lander to host state meetings, large conventions, art shows, auto displays, dances, and concerts on the performance stage. Three conference rooms will accommodate smaller events. Large windows on the front and leading to the deck offer sweeping views of the Wind River Range, while providing passive solar to contribute to the energy efficiency of the new center.
